Celebrating Every Body, Every Story
Your Safe Space for Authentic Fashion
A Space Where EVERY Body Belongs

Celebrating Diversity in Every Stitch
At Uncommon Closet, our founding vision comes from lived experience - because we know what it feels like to be told your body doesn't fit in. That ache for authenticity, the search for belonging, and the wish to simply wear clothes that make you feel seen, are at the heart of why our shop exists. We proudly serve communities who are too often left off the fashion rack: trans, nonbinary, queer, plus-size, disabled, and anyone whose body or style deserves more than judgment and shame. Our journey started with Korri's realization that traditional tailoring spaces were full of exclusion and discomfort. So we built something different - a shop where every client knows they will be heard, respected, and uplifted, never gaslit or shamed for how they live in their skin. Real conversations, honest fits, and a splash of queer joy shape every appointment. When our clients look in our mirrors, we want them to see possibility and self-acceptance - not compromise. Here, diversity isn't a slogan, it's the thread that holds our community together. Step inside and experience tailoring that celebrates your story.
Crafting Change Through Radical Inclusion
Uncommon Closet is more than a tailor shop - it's a movement for fashion justice and local solidarity. Our team stands against all forms of discrimination, fiercely advocating for our LGBTQIA+ family and being explicit about our anti-ICE stance as neighbors in Chicago's Latine community. Creating a truly accessible, safe environment drives everything we do, whether it's making our space wheelchair-friendly, refusing to police anyone's identity, or openly supporting marginalized causes and events. We challenge harmful industry norms with our body-neutral, kink-friendly, and kid-friendly approach, and we champion sustainability by giving garments second lives through mending and upcycling. At Uncommon Closet, activism happens with every hem and every hello, because fashion should never reinforce barriers. Our clients tell us they see their confidence (and their pride) grow, not just their wardrobes, which is why we're dedicated to keeping this space open to all. The rainbow isn't just in our branding - it's in our community's courage. Join us, and be a part of rewriting fashion's rules together.

You'll find laughter at every fitting, a shoulder when you need support, and a crew who never gives you side eye for wanting to shine.
